V.Ships continues its commitment to seafarer safety with offshore emergency training.

Four of our V.Ships crew members travelled to Cork in Ireland for an OPITO approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET) course at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) from the 31st March to 2nd April 2014.

Lukasz Selke, Justyna Bojke, Andrzej Roszewicz, and Jacek Wesner, from the vessel AMAZON WARRIOR, took part in the 3 day training course covering basic safety and emergency response procedures for working in offshore environments.

Maciek Bejm, Managing Director of V.Ships Poland said: "At V.Ships, our people are our greatest asset and their knowledge and safety is of the highest importance to our business. This OPITO approved BOSIET course is an important step in our overall drive to achieve the highest levels of safety and compliance in all we do. The onshore training is designed to help personnel working within the offshore oil and gas industry reinforce awareness of offshore safety and emergency response."

The crew, who are part of the catering department on board a seismic vessel which is crew managed by V.Ships Cyprus supported by V.Ships Poland, gained a basic understanding of the potential hazards encountered when working on offshore installation. Through a mix of practical and theory training sessions, participants learned about the safety regime and safety management systems which can be used to control and mitigate these kinds of hazards.

David Price, Managing Director of V.Ships Cyprus said: "NMCI is an OPITO approved centre providing courses in compliance with the UK oil and gas standards. As this recent training demonstrates, V.Ships continues to be committed to crew safety in every aspect of the job. We know that a skilled and competent workforce is vital to ensuring safe crew operations in the offshore sector and successful project outcomes for our clients."
